This is the sister-series to Microcosmos 1 (read about the beginning there!) and was called Microcosmos 2 until fairly recently. When I danced round this canvas I splashed black and white tempera (Källmans paints) and also gold. Then I applied a purple-magenta hue to each canvas. I loved the shapes that were created by the splashes. So playful, so much to discover.

Like their sister-series Micricosmos 1, they lay, waiting patiently, for several years before I picked them up again, now inspired to apply black in layers around the edges, lift the gold by applying more pigment and they reached a joyful completion, becoming small jewels full of depth and peace and activity.
